Job Summary:

As a Regional Psychiatrist, you will be responsible for overseeing the psychiatric clinical programs in Utah and ensuring compliance with state and federal guidelines. You will conduct evaluations and assessments for new patients in our partner facilities. The successful candidate will play a critical role in assessing and treating psychiatric disorders, developing care plans, and communicating effectively with nursing staff, families, and interdisciplinary teams.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Conduct psychiatric evaluations and assessments to determine the appropriate treatment plan for each patient.
  • Provide medication management services by evaluating medication effectiveness and side effects, prescribing medication, and adjusting dosages as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records for each patient, including progress notes, treatment plans, and diagnosis codes.
  • Provide clinical oversight and review of medical documentation created by PMHNPs servicing the Idaho practice.
  • Collaborate with other mental health professionals, including therapists, psychologists, and social workers to provide comprehensive care to patients.
  • Participate in treatment team meetings to provide updates on patient progress and coordinate care.
  • Attend training and continuing education programs to stay current on best practices and new research in psychiatry.

Service areas incorporate: Greater Salt Lake area

Requirements

  • Completion of a residency training program in psychiatry and two years of post-residency experience as a psychiatrist in a psychiatric facility required.
  • M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Licensure as a physician in applicable state.
  • Licensed by the applicable State Board of Pharmacy in good standing to prescribe controlled substances.
  • Possession of a valid state driver’s license may be required.

  • Knowledge of general medicine and psychiatry; current developments in the field of psychiatry; hospital and clinic organization, management, and procedures.
  • Ability to skillfully diagnose and treat severely and persistently mentally ill patients.
  • Ability to analyze situations and adopt an effective course of action.
  • Ability to prepare records and reports.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to maintain objectivity and confidentiality.
